• Why is the price different when I click through to a recycler's website?

  This is not intentional. At Sell That Mobile we do everything possible to ensure that the prices we compare are 100% accurate. However, sometimes technical errors occur that are beyond our control. We rely on each recycler featured on the site to supply their pricing information to us. We download this pricing data from each recycler every hour, 24 hours a day. Very occasionally a recycler will update their prices and have a technical issue which means the pricing data they send to us is not updated straight away. This is why there can on very rare occasions be a price difference. We have automated systems to detect this and as soon as we spot a discrepancy we contact the recycler to rectify the issue. Just to make it clear, if there is price difference, the price on the recycler website is the price you will get for your phone.

• I sent my mobile to you and I've not had my money!

  Sell That Mobile is a mobile phone recycling price comparison site. We do not actually buy the phones ourselves so you would not have sent the phone to us. The way it works is that you go on to our site and search for your phone then our site compares the prices for that phone from all the different phone buyers so you get the best deal when selling your old mobile. You choose which phone buyer you want to sell your mobile to and then you click through from our site to the phone buyer site to place your order. This means your order is not actually placed with us but direct with the phone buyer and so if you have any query about your order you will need to speak direct to the company you placed the order with.

• How much is my phone worth?

  To find out how much your phone is worth just enter the make and model of your phone into the search box at www.Sell That Mobile and click GO. Or you can click on the make of your phone below the search box, and on the next page click on your phone model.

  Then you'll see a page that lists all of the different mobile phone recycling companies and the prices that they will pay you for your phone. Also listed on this page is whether they will accept a non-working phone, and how much they will offer for it, and if they will pay for postage of your phone and if they will send a postage bag out to you. We will also tell you what payment methods they offer and also give you a way to read reviews of each company by other customers. And finally - the most important part of all - there is a link to each mobile phone recycling company site so that you can get straight on and sell your phone to them!

• Will I still be able to get cash for my phone if it's broken or non-working?

  Yes: almost all of the phone buyers featured on our site will still pay you for a phone that's not working. • What's the definition of a broken or non-working phone?

  We compare the prices from lots of different phone buyers on the site to get you the best deal. They each have slightly different definitions of 'working' and 'non-working' but as a guide here are the general definitions:

  To be considered as a working phone, it should:

  • Be able to turn on and off otherwise it really should be considered non working
  • Be working normally: the bumps and scrapes that every phone gets from day to day use are OK.
  • Have a working screen: you need to be able to see what you are doing!
  • Have its battery: you don't usually need to send the SIM card, memory card or charger in though.
  • Be in good enough condition: not crushed or broken or dropped in water.

  It is classed as non-working phones if any of the following apply:

  • Have a broken or bleeding screen
  • Can't start up
  • Have a broken speaker or microphone
  • Have a broken aerial.

  Basically, if it can still be used as a working phone then that's what the phone buyer will treat it as and pay you accordingly. If it is a non-working phone then you can still sell it and get as much as 90% of the value of a working version. The above definitions are a general guide so when you have chosen which phone buyer to sell your phone to it is worth double-checking their Terms & Conditions.

• Can I still sell my phone if I don't have the charger?

  Definitely! All the phone buyers we compare prices from on our site DO NOT require you to send a charger. In other words, the price shown is WITHOUT a charger. They only require you to send the phone and the battery. You do not need to send the charger, the sim card or any of the other accessories. You can send the charger and other accessories if you wish but you will not get any more money for them. However, if you do send the other accessories the phone buyers will dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way. So, all you need to do is go to www.Sell That Mobile and check the prices being offered for your phone right now, send your phone and get paid for it!

• Will I have to pay for postage?

  Generally no. Almost all of the phone buyers we feature in our price comparison results offer a Freepost service. Most will even send you a Freepost postage bag so you don't even need to package the phone yourself. To see which companies offer a Freepost service enter the make and model of your phone into the search box at www.Sell That Mobile and click GO. We compare the prices from all the phone buyers for your phone and in the comparison results table you will see 2 columns that show which companies offer a Freepost service and which companies send you a Freepost postage bag.

  One further bit of advice for you regarding postage. If you send your phone to a phone buyer using their Freepost service we advise you to take it to a Post Office and get a Proof of Postage. If you do this and your phone does not get delivered then you can claim up to £32 from the Royal Mail. If you are sending a phone or phones that are worth more than this we would therefore recommend that send them by registered post or Special Delivery as this insures them up to £500. The cost for this will generally be about £2-£5. It also means that you can track your parcel to ensure it arrives.

• My postage bag has not arrived, how do I get another one?

The way it works is that you go on to our site and search for your phone then our site compares the prices for that phone from all the different phone buyers so you get the best deal when selling your old mobile. • Can I still sell my phone if it has been barred?

  No: phones that have been barred have been reported as stolen to the police: all phones received by the phone recyclers are checked against a national database of stolen phones and if they are found to be stolen they are reported to the police and destroyed.

• How will I be paid?

  The phone buyers we compare on our site use many different methods of payment. The most common are cheque, bank transfer, PayPal, PayOffline, Postal Order, same day payment and shopping vouchers. Choose the best method to suit you. To see which methods each phone buyer offers enter the make and model of your phone into the search box at www.Sell That Mobile and click GO. In the results table we show the price each phone buyer is offering for your phone and also the payment methods they offer.

  You can either take the cash price or you might prefer shopping vouchers for places like Argos and Marks and Spencer. As you can see several of the phone buyers offer a higher value in vouchers than the cash price.

• How long will the price quoted be valid for?

  Most of the phone buyers will keep their offer open for 14 days, so it's always wise to take the best offer as soon as possible. Our advice is that it's best not to wait: mobile phones are a very quickly changing technology and the price you are offered today might not be much lower in a few days, so if you see a price that's attractive you should accept their offer straight away and make sure you post your phone to them without delay.

• I lost my phone some time ago then I recently found it, can I still sell it?

  Providing that the phone isn't registered as lost or stolen you can still sell the phone.

• What is an IMEI number?

  IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a serial number unique to every phone. You will usually find it printed on the back of your phone under the battery. It should be 15 digits long and start with 35 or 01. You can find your phones IMEI number on the backplate of the phone, which is usually under the battery, or, on most phones, you can type *# 06 # into your keypad and your phone will display it's IMEI number.

• What happens to my phone after I send it in?

  Most of the phones are either sent for reuse in markets such as China, Africa, and India or they are refurbished and sold in the UK. It is environmentally friendly to provide a phone for reuse by someone else. If your phone cannot be resold and reused by someone else because it is broken or badly damaged and is therefore deemed by the phone buyer to be ‘Beyond Economical Repair' then it is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way so it doesn't end up in a landfill site.

• How many phones can I send?

  You can send as many phones as you want. If you are sending more than 10 some of the phone buyers featured on our site offer a free courier service. Click through to their websites and see their sites for more details. Don't forget though that one company won't always offer the best price for every single phone: our advice is to use our mobile phone price comparison service at www.Sell That Mobile and check who is offering the best price for each separate phone in your collection: that way you won't miss out on an excellent offer from one company for a specific phone!

• I can't find my phone on your site: how much will you offer me for phone make / model X?

  We're sorry - but we get our phone information directly from the phone buyers featured on our site - and this means that if a phone is not showing up in the search results then none of the companies are currently offering to buy that model.
